MOVEMENT & DANCE

Instructor: Chris Lingner

After being named one of the new professional ballet company’s first two founding members in August 2017, Chris Lingner set the stage for his hometown Indianapolis Ballet.

Lingner’s vast professional experience in the performing arts began on the 2009 National Tour of Twyla Tharp’s Movin’ Out and includes a Tony Award nomination in the Best Revival of a Musical category as a co-producer of On the Town on Broadway. The Indianapolis native spent four seasons with the Cincinnati Ballet, where he debuted his own original choreography entitled Love Dream during the 2015 Inaugural Choreography Workshop.

Dance has taken Lingner to stops near and far, including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Nederlands Dans Theatre in Den Haag, Netherlands for summer workshops and Havana, Cuba, where he produced the first Ballet Royalty Gala, named the “Best Show of 2016” by the Gran Teatro de la Habana Alicia Alonso. Around those travels, the student of the renowned Indiana University Jacobs School of Music ballet program has often returned to Central Indiana to perform, including as part of the Indianapolis School of Ballet’s production of Coppélia in May 2017.
